(焼岳) Mt. Yake Hike

With the Kamikochi hikes, I have heard a lot about Yarigatake and Hotaka, but not so much with Mt. Yake. 

Budget: JPY9,000 (~USD86)

• JPY8,000. Roundtrip bus, allocated using Willer Bus Pass (JPY4,000 one way)

When to Go

Buses from Tokyo to Kamikochi only run from mid April to early November, but the buses to Hirayu Onsen run throughout the year.

• Direct Bus, Tokyo (Shinjuku) to Kamikochi. JPY4,000 one way, using JBL bus pass. Otherwise, depending on the season, JPY6,500 to JPY8,600 one way, reserve here.

• Nakaokogen-guchi (中尾高原口).  
• Bus, Tokyo to Hirayu Onsen (平湯温泉). JPY4,000 one way, using JBL bus pass. Otherwise, JPY6,200 one way, reserve here.
• Bus, Hirayu Onsen to Nakaokogen-guchi . JPY690 (?) one way. This trailhead is bus stop H058 in the schedule below.

• Mountain huts. 
• Paid. Yakedake-koya (焼岳小屋). This is close to the summit, but no camping spots. Reservations at 090-2753-2560. JPY6,500, no meals. 
• Paid. Nishiho Sansou (西穂山荘). Winter rates - JPY8,200 no meals,  reservations at 0263-36-7052. The hut is open throughout the year. 
• Free. None.
• Camping. Nishiho Sansou (西穂山荘). JPY1,000, reservations at 0263-36-7052

• 05:00am. Start hike.
• 09:05am. ETA: Summit view point. 
• 12:35pm. ETA: Nakaokogen-guchi. Go to the onsen.
• 02:59pm. Bus, Nakaokogen-guchi to Hirayu-onsen.
