(入笠山) Mt. Nyuukasa Hike

 

This will be a great mountain to go to if I have a car. 

Budget: JPY9,020 (~USD85)

• JPY7,320. Train, Tokyo < > Fujimi Station (JPY3,660 one way)
• OR JPY2,410. One day's worth allocated with Seishun 18 ticket.
• JPY1,700. Roundtrip, Gondola Ticket.

When to Go
If via public transportation, the only feasible dates are April 25 to November 15. 

Special Notes

• Weather forecast: Japanese. 
• Trailheads. Plenty of options if you have a car. Otherwise, there's just one.  There is even a package from Shinjuku Station available from May to November (JPY7,980-8,480 per person when I checked as of July 2021). 
• Fujimi Panorama Resort (富士見パノラマリゾート). Google maps pin. 
• Train, Tokyo to Fujimi Station (富士見駅). If using local trains, it is about 4 hours one way. 
• Free Shuttle Bus, Fujimi Station (富士見駅) to Fujimi Panorama Resort. Just one per day. 
• 10:00am. Fujimi Station to Fujimi Panorama Resort.
• 03:00pm. Fujimi Panorama Resort to Fujimi Station. 
• Gondola, Fujimi Panorama Resort to top area (Choujou-eki 頂上駅). JPY1,700 round trip, JPY1,100 one way. Gondola only runs from April 25 to November 15. 
• Nyuukasa-tozanguchi (入笠登山口). Not accessible via public transportation, but with parking lot. Google maps pin. There's a nearby hostel, so for those using car naviagation, here's the phone number: 0266-78-7022.
• Aoyagi Station (青柳駅). There is a not-much-used trail going straight to Aoyagi Station, and it should be visible in yamap. 
• Mountain huts. 
• Paid. 
• Manaslu hut (マナスル山荘). Named after one of the peaks in the Himalayas, this hut has a parking lot and a mere 20 minutes away from the summit. JPY10,000 with two meals. They even have unlimited drinks for JPY2,500. 
• Nyuukasa House (入笠ハウス紅葉軒).  Close to the Manaslu hut, but there's not a lot of info. Here's a page I found. 
• Yamabiko (山彦荘). Ten minutes down the road from Manaslu Hut. JPY8,500 for a stay with two meals. 
• Free. None that I could find. 
• Camping. 
• Yamabiko (山彦荘). Though not visible in the  map, they do have camping spot. BUT it its only limited to BIG grooups, and the fee is JPY800/person plus a flat rate of JPY10,000.  Reservations required. 

Itinerary

• 05:42am. Tokyo to Fujimi Station. 
• 10:00am. Shuttle, Fujimi Station to Fujimi Panorama Resort. 
• 11:00am. Start hike. 
• 12:00pm. ETA: Mt. Nyuukasa. Long lunch, walk around. 
• 01:00pm. Start heading back to the Gondola. 
• 02:00pm. Gondola to Fujimi Panorama Resort. 
• 03:00pm. Fujimi Panorama Resort to Fujimi Station. 
• 03:29pm. Train, Fujimi Station to Tokyo.
• 08:12pm. ETA: Tokyo Station.
