Currently the highest point in Bosnia, this was a gorgeous hike with rock scrambles, lakes, ridge walks, and meadows. Highly recommend.
Budget: EUR200 from Sarajevo
- EUR200 for a guided trip with Highland Adventures, including everything. This is for two people, but I was traveling solo so I paid for both.
Hike Date / Difficulty (Elevation: 2,386m / 7,814ft)
- Hike Date : June 21, 2025
- Difficulty: 3 out of 5
- Route below is around 10.8kilometers, with an elevation change of ▲864m/ ▽926m (8h04m)
- I use YAMAP and it was on battery saving mode, so it did skip quite a bit. I also put it on pause and forgot to turn it on again for about 30 mins to an hour lol.
- It should be around 18km, with 1200m elev gain/loss. The 8 hour time has maybe 1.5 hour rest baked in.
- Map Link. I tried to find maps off the internet, but I couldn't find any. I was told locals have their own depository... so good luck to us foreigners.
When to GoJune to October?
Special Notes- Weather forecast: English
- Guide. I went with Kenan from Highlander Adventure. I contacted at least ten of them, and this was the most professional and flexible It was a very educational and safe trip. HIGHLY recommend. If you book with Kenan, please say hi.
- Can you do this solo? Yes. Just need to be able to drive to the trailhead + know the route you wanna take. Guides are NOT required. But you also will not hear about the rich background of Bosnia and have an in-depth understanding of the its history and fauna.
- Trailheads.
- Prijevor. Google maps pin. There's no public transport, and you would need a 4wd as its mainly a drive up a rough road.
- Mountain huts.
- Paid. None. There should be one, but it's not on the trail.
- Free. None.
- Camping. Near the heart shaped lake.
Itinerary- 07:00am. Pick up at Sarajevo.
- 10:00am. Start hike
- 12:41pm. Summit.
- 01:40pm. Left the summit.
- 06:21pm. Back at the parking lot.
