Special Notes
- Weather forecast: English
- No guides needed, but a pain to get to via public transport. So I found it simpler to book a tour, which costs the same if I booked a car (no guide). This is what I booked : getyourguide
- Trailheads.
- Only one. Google maps pin. No public transportation.
- Mountain huts.
- Paid.None.
- Free. None.
- Camping. Near the entrance and inside the crater.
- 06:00am. Pickup from Nairobi.
- 09:00am. Arrival at trailhead. This was normally a two hour drive, but there was an accident and the entire road was stopped so we had to go through various alternative routes. Others had to sleep the night in the vehicle.
- 10:00am. Arrived at the crater.
- 11:00am. Arrived at the summit.
- 1:30pm. Back at the trailhead
- 5:00pm. Back in Nairobi after some rather bad traffic.
