(光岳) Mt. Tekari Hike

  

Hyakumeizan that is so difficult to access without a car. 

Budget: JPY13,820++ (~USD133++)

• JPY6,820. Train, Tokyo < > Shizuoka Station (JPY3,410 one way)
• JPY7,000. Bus, Shizuoka Station, go to Hatanagi Dam. JPY3,500 one way.

When to Go
Throughout the year it seems, but prepare for a lot of snow. 

Special Notes

• Weather forecast. English / Japanese. English more detailed, Japanese more accurate. 
• Trailheads. Definitely not accessible without a car, but here's the convoluted public transportation for those who have the time. Of all the trailheads, the best one I think is taking a car to Tayorigashima (便ヶ島), camping at the trailhead and doing two dayhikes with Mt. Tekari. 
• Numahira (沼平). About 1.5kms from Hatanagi dam, which is a part of Mt. Akaishi's hike. I'll link Mt. Akaishi's blog post later on. 
• Tayorigashima (便ヶ島). Google maps pin here. A trailhead shared with Mt. Tekari (光岳) with a camping spot, but no public access. A taxi can be taken from Hiraoka Station (平岡駅), which will cost around JPY14,000 one way.

• Paid. 光小屋, just 15 mins away from the summit.

Itinerary
Friday

• Drive to Tayorigashima (便ヶ島) and camp for the night. 

Saturday

• 04:00am. Start hike. 
• 11:05am. Summit Mt. Hijiri
• 03:45pm. Back at trailhead. Drive back.
